Vol 3 was printed, I own it.You probably have the Hal Leonard 'official' version which is likely different than the old black market fake books that many of the old timers have. Before the internet made sharing files and pdfs so easy there were only printed versions of these books and they weren't printed or sold legally. You had to 'know someone who knows someone' so to speak to get one. More recently Hal Leonard has tried to put an end to the black market dealing of fake books by publishing and selling legal versions of the books.

However, while they used the same covers more or less they don't match up exactly (none of the Hal Leonard versions match up perfectly with the old versions but some are better than others) in terms of content so it can get a bit confusing. There is a Vol 3 in Eb from Hal Leonard but in the original series 'back in the day' Vols 1 & 2 came in C, Bass, Bb, & Eb but Vol 3 was only around in C & Bb.
